The Bodyclock Starter 30 is an ingenious alarm clock specifically designed to naturally wake you with a gradual 30 minute sunrise.

If you're not a 'morning person' Bodyclock Starter is simply a much nicer way to start the day, say goodbye to those piercing alarm tones.

Sunrise is a natural alarm by which we set our body clock, aligning our daily rhythms with day and night. Most of us however mix early starts, late nights and weekend lie-ins, these inconsistent light cues can throw our body clock out of sync.

The Bodyclock Starter helps keep your sleep/wake cycle on track and has been shown to boost mood, energy and productivity levels for the whole day.

The clock gradually brightens over a 30 minute period, this prompts your body to reduce its production of sleep hormones (e.g. melatonin) and increase its levels of those that help you get up and go (e.g. cortisol). The 30 minute sunset option has the opposite effect, helping you naturally unwind before sleep.

Just in case you're not convinced Bodyclock Starter comes with an optional alarm beep however most people turn this off after a few days, preferring to wake up to the light on its own. Bodyclock Starter can also be used as a dimmable bedside light and incorporates a snooze feature.

Subjects were exposed to controlled 24-hr cycles of very low light/darkness. Those starting their ‘day’ with dawn simulation maintained their internal body clock which suggests that gradual change in light is a strong circadian signal.

I bought the Lumie Bodyclock Starter to replace a seven year old Lumie Classic which finally gave up the ghost. The Starter is just as good as the classic in my opinion (just doesn't have the radio which I never used anyway) and it makes getting up on those dark winter mornings (almost) pain free!! Wouldn't be without it.

Great product, Using mainly as an alarm rather than the night light, but I wouldn't want to wake any other way since I received my Lumie! It takes 30 minutes for the light to fully illuminate and by that time I'm awake and ready to go! 1st Sep, 2011
