All You Need To Know About Wool Bedding
Wool has many unique features, making it an exceptional choice of bedding.
Temperature Regulating Effects
• The wool fibres naturally regulate your body temperature keeping you at your optimum temperature throughout the night.
• The bedding will continue to work in this way despite changing seasons, warm in winter and cool in summer.
• When sharing a bed both individuals body temperature will be regulated separately. This is an ideal option for couples who can’t agree on the warmth of a tradition tog rated duvet.
Reduced Heart Rate
• Wool bedding reduces your heart rate promoting a deeper more relaxed sleep.
Hyper-Allergenic
• Wool has a natural resistance to dustmites therefore it is asthma and allergy friendly.
Moisture-Wicking
• Part of wool's breathability comes from its power to draw moisture away from the skin and release it through evaporation.
• This offers a more refreshing nights sleep on those warmer nights and prevents dampness.
Duvet Weight
• Wool is generally a lighter choice of duvet.
• Wool is not measured in Tog but in GSM (grams per square meter).
• It is important to remember that due to its temperature regulating features wool can be used throughout the year.
• The Jaspa 300gsm duvet is designed for warmer climates and people who prefer a lighter duvet.
• The Jaspa 500gsm duvet is designed for cooler climates and people who prefer a plumper duvet with extra warmth.
Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsWool DuvetWritten by Ingrid Ferguson This is an excellent product. Light but very warm and I hope it will last for years.22nd Feb, 2012
Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsGreat purchaseWritten by JD from Newcastle I read all the reviews before purchasing this. It lives up to my expectations. Takes a few nights to get used to after years with a down civet, it is heavier and does not envelope you in the same way. But it keeps me at the right temperature all night, which is what I was looking for. Have not had to stick my legs out of the bed once since using this. I will buy the lighter weight version for the summer months.6th Jan, 2012
we bought this duvet to use in our motorhome and it has been absolutely top class. My husband tends to get quite hot whilst i can get cold (because i sleep near to the window). However on our latest trip we both enjoyed a good nights sleep, not cold or too hot. I highly reccommend it.
Having recently bought the Jaspa 500gsm Wool Duvet I am now sleeping really well. Together with the Tempur Contoured Pillow I am comfortable, just the right temperature, and not having to either stick my legs out of bed because I'm too hot, or use my husband as a hot water bottle because I'm too cold. Very pleased with the quality of this duvet. Only odd thing about it is the smell when first used - a bit like wet woollies! Got used to it now though. I love it. No complaints from husband either.
Easy transaction with Slumber Slumber and very good quality duvet. Especially as their price was the best on the market.

Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet2 starsDISAPPOINTINGWritten by C WARREN I was disappointed with the King Size 500 gsm Wool duvet I recently received.
I found it less comfortable than more traditional duvets
it felt flatter and did not seem to fit round the body. as I am used to.
It was also too hot for me, I could not say that it regulated my body temperature as I had expected from the advertising.
I hope to see this review alongside all the 5 star reviews. Can I be the only customer with issues about this product?10th Nov, 2011
Lovely and comfortable. I'd read all the other reviews before purchasing and I'm so glad I bought the duvet. It keeps us warm without being too heavy, but it doesn't get too hot either. Ideal!!
I can't wait for bedtime now to snuggle down under this fabulous cover - unlike my down duvet it stays put in the cover and doesn't slide off the bed - bliss. Extremely prompt service too.

Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsJaspa wool DuvetWritten by Mrs Ann White A really lovely duvet, always had feather before and would not go back to that, I thought it might feel heavier, but it did not.12th Oct, 2011
After many years of sleepless nights caused by heat inducing cancer drugs, I heard about and purchased a Jaspa Duvet. It arrived within a few days of order and I promptly put it on the bed. There was no doubt that my body temperature remained more even and I was not woken in the night in fear of spontaneous combustion. In less than a week the weather became much warmer and, despite having purchased a winter weight duvet, I had much more comfortable nights.

Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsJust rightWritten by Anna This is perfect for cool Scottish nights. It seems to suit both me (who feels the cold) and my husband (who is always too hot). We are both sleeping better under the Jaspa duvet. It has a comforting weight but is not heavy. I can't imagine going back to a down duvet now.25th Sep, 2011
Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsGoodbye night sweatsWritten by Fran Really pleased with this duvet. Sleeping under it has got rid of the 'night sweats' which was the main reason for buying it. My sleep is no longer so disturbed although it does take a little while to get used to. Only criticism is that the cotton cover is a bit noisy and crackly but once you're in bed that's not really an issue.15th Sep, 2011
We have been using this duvet for some time now. It is just so wonderful, it is so cool in summer and lovely and warm in winter. We also have the 300gsm and have brought one of each for our son, who also loves it. These duvets are just amazing, I would say try them you can't go wrong.

Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsJaspa Wool DuvetWritten by The Smiths So warm. I have thrown my Siberian Down duvet away as the fluff was everywhere. What a difference this one makes, no fluff, very light and so warm! I am going to buy more for my children too!11th Sep, 2011
Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsWarm but not bulky.Written by Alison Carroll I like the new duvet I ordered from you, filled with wool. It’s warm but not bulky and looks very neat. I find it extremely comfortable and I was impressed with the service and the speed of delivery. Well done.17th Aug, 2011
Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsWool DuvetWritten by Gisela Greenaway I always wanted wool filled duvets but had not seen any until I read about Jaspa's wool duvets in the DT. I ordered two, his and her's, single duvets 500 gsm because the 300 gsm were sold out. Having a rather cool summer I thought the difference would not matter much. And so it is. The duvets are well made, surprisingly light and cosy. The filling remains evenly spread throughout thanks to the diamond quilting in a lovely to the touch cotton material. They also fit perfectly into my duvet covers. The duvet keeps what was promised. We are delighted and sleep so well.

Wow we are thrilled with our duvets - the wool stays evenly all over the bed so no cold patches. It is warm and cosy and feels comfortable, light and snug. We are delighted with our purchase. Thank you - highly recommended. If you are dithering - dither no more go ahead and buy - you can safely be decisive!
Have only just started using this duvet but it seems to do what it is advertised as, light but warm.

Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starslovely wool duvetWritten by Karen Evans I searched high and low for a good quality wool duvet and this one has not disappointed. Lovely soft cover and feels plump and soft - very snuggly! Extremely happy. thanks!29th Jun, 2011
Does just as it says. Wanted the 300gsm for the summer but they have run out until at least October time they reckon, but thought would try 500gsm. So good compared with down duvets which just get me so hot and sweaty. Even though it may be just too hot in the summer, this is fantastic..... wish I had known about wool duvets years ago. All came really fast and packed up superbly. A+++. Just a shame that they didn't have enough stock for all orders over the summer for the 300gsm one - and in this day and age cannot get more in quickly enough.
I am a cold sleeper and had a 15 tog duvet. Read about the Jaspa in DT and made order. Service was first class - no hassle and speedy. Item I am more than delighted with. Provides the warmth for the old bones without any weight. The heat is a 'dry' heat - old duvet at times made one sweat - akin to that nice toast feeling. Wish I had been aware of it before as it is superior to frathe, and man made fibre. Price is not out of the way either. Highly recommended. PS it does not go baaaaa during the night.
Great service from you. Ordered over the week end (17th) and arrived here today 20th.On the bed now awaiting road test tonight and looking at the quality it looks as if I will not be disappointed. Well done Slumbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsVery pleasedWritten by Anna Powell The Jaspa 500 wool duvet arrived very promptly, is very light and even on the bed. It is beautifully warm - it remains to be seen whether it will be warm enough in winter. But I'm very pleased with your service and the product at present.5th Apr, 2011
The 500g duvet feels heavier on our feet that our down duvet but there is no slippage of the filling. Warms up quickly and no problems with dust/debris that occurs with feather duvet. Look forward to using it in the winter if we get the -18C temps again.
I find the Jaspa 500 a touch heavy, but more comfortable than other bedding such as down duvets and wool blankets with sheets. It does not envelope me. It may turn out to be too warm in the height of summer, but so far (end of March) it maintains me at the right temperature for sleep.
I do not usually review items but I am extremely pleased with the above duvet. My husband has Parkinson's disease one side effect of which is irrationally fluctuating temperatures (sensitive to cold or gets too hot). This is the first duvet in 20 years which gives him (and me as carer) a really peaceful night's sleep. I don't know what magic it does but suspect that it is very slightly rigid so doesn't envelop the body too closely smothering it in material. Weight is important and it is just right. THANK YOU and I am thinking of buying another as soon as I can get round to it.

Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet5 starsExcellent productWritten by Toni Duncan We were very pleased with the Jaspa 500 gsm wool duvet. It certainly offers much better temperature control than a normal duvet. We were also very pleased with the delivery service. Thank You.27th Mar, 2011
We have found the wool duvet entirely satisfactory and far superior to previously used duvets. We have not yet used the 300g duvet purchased at the same time.
The duvet came pretty fast, approximately 1 day after I paid for it. Very good feeling never too warm also never feel cold. I quite like it as it is light weight compared with a cotton duvet, it provides better sleep experience, definitely worth the money I spent!

Jaspa 500 gsm Wool Duvet4 starsWould highly recommend, as part of a full natural bedding solutionWritten by Isabelle Denis I purchased this duvet for myself after getting a similar wool duvet for my son's single bed. I was after a natural-filled duvet with a high-quality cover, that would keep me warm in the cold winter nights without causing any uncomfortable over-heating. I had been looking at a different brand, but the half price offer on Jaspa was too tempting to resist. The product arrived in 3 working days (standard delivery). Like any other wool bedding items, the duvet did have a strong smell when I took it out of the package, but nothing that stopped me using it after airing it for a couple of hours. I would really recommend this product if night sweats are keeping you up. The moisture-wicking properties of wool really do help (make sure your duvet cover/sheets are also 100% natural fibre). The duvet does give instant warmth when I go to bed, although I do still get cold in the middle of the night when the heating comes off. However, I've now also purchased a wool-filled mattress topper, and the topper/duvet combination seems to have sorted that problem out.29th Jan, 2011
Please let me know the dimensions of the king and super king?
The king size is 225 x 220 cm and the super king 260 x 220 cm.
Can the king size (either 300 or 500?) be washed in a normal washing machine? I can fit a 4.5 tog synthetic duvet in ours (have to thanks to elderly cats...) so it's important!
Both the 300gsm and the 500gsm are machine washable at 40c. The 300gsm is quite thin, but it would really depend on the capacity of your machine, we cannot guarantee it would fit.
What are the measurements of the double size Jaspa duvet please?
The Double size Jaspa Duvet measures 200cm x 200cm.
What tog rating would the 500 gram wool duvet compare to?
Wool is measured in GSM (grams per square meter) and unfortunately does not have an equivalent tog rating. Tog relates to the warmth of a duvet. Wool is naturally temperature regulating and most customers find that despite the duvets GSM it will keep you at an ambient temperature throughout the year. Therefore the tog is not relevant with wool.
When choosing wool you should consider which weight of duvet you prefer.
The Jaspa 300gsm duvet is designed for warmer climates and people who prefer a lighter duvet.
The Jaspa 500gsm duvet is designed for cooler climates and people who prefer a plumper duvet with extra warmth.
I cannot wear woollen jumpers next to my skin because they itch. Is this likely to be a problem with a wool filled duvet?
I would confirm that the wool is covered in luxurious 100% Japara Cotton. You should also bear in mind that the duvet will also be encased in your duvet cover so your skin should not be in direct contact with the wool.
If you are still worried though I would recommend the Forgarty Best Nights Sleep Wool Duvet. This duvet has a polypropylene interlining which prevents the wool filling from migrating through the cotton outer layer.
